All our timber staircases are made to order and can be freighted anywhere in Australia; they will arrive flat-packed and can be assembled by either your builder or yourself. We have a variety of different timber options available including knotty pine for staircases that will be carpeted or covered as well as clear pine, Philippine Mahogany and Kwila or Merbau (a teak-coloured hardwood). All our staircases come with a 7-year structural warranty and comply with Australian design and safety standards.

How to Order:

When placing your order, we will require some information including several measurements:

• Height of the ceiling
• Height difference between floors
• Environment surrounding the stairs (hallways, doors, windows)
• Any additional features that you require such as balustrading
• Which way is up

If you have detailed house plans then we can work from those as a substitute for the measurements.

Winder Timber Staircases (Geometrical Winding Staircase)

Winder timber staircases, also known as geometrical winding stairs, are good for large entries to make a statement. They are often the central feature of a room and add style and sophistication to your home. We generally recommend that this style of staircase is reserved for larger properties or homes as it does eat up a lot of the living space. Our timber staircases come flat-packed and can be freighted anywhere within Australia. They are easy to re-assemble and anyone who has experience with basic DIY projects will be able to install the stairs themselves. Alternatively, ask our office staff about local installation.

Options available for winder staircases:

The customization available to be performed on your staircase is limitless; we’ve got numerous hand-rail designs, slats and balustrades, and we’re happy to work with any designs you have in mind, whether they are replicas of an existing design, or photos of something you’d like.

We’ll use any hardwood timber provided it can be laminated easily. We’ve got a broad selection of imported and Australian timbers including: American Oak, Philippine Mahogany, Spotted Gum, Black Butt and Iron-bark (grey or red), Tasmanian oak, Durian and Vic Ash. For carpeted applications, we recommend using Knotty Pine, as it’s a sturdy, cheap wood.

While we can supply other timbers, if it’s an exotic or out of the ordinary timber, we may require additional notice before manufacturing; give us a call if you’re unsure.

Timber Staircase Designs are only limited by timber type availability and Australian Building Regulations. Almost anything you can imagine is possible!

Timber Staircases with a Landing

Timber Staircase Specialists are a family-owned and run business based in Bundaberg. When you order a staircase from Timber Staircase Specialists you’ll be receiving a high-quality product that comes flat packed and is easy to assemble. Options for Staircases with Landings:

A staircase with a landing is a good way to save space without getting cramped; they wrap around and have one or two platforms with a landing. They are available in either an ‘L’ or a ‘U’ shape and they come in a variety of different timber options including knotty pine, clear pine, Philippine mahogany, merbau (kwila) and American Oak.

We have some standard designs that you can select from – visit our Bundaberg showroom to see the full range – and we are also capable of creating a custom design or copying a design you’ve seen somewhere else.

How to Order:

When you place your order for your new staircase, you’ll need to provide us with detailed house plans as well as some photos if possible. If you don’t have access to the house plans then we will require the following measurements:

• Ceiling height
• The height difference between the two floors
• Any environmental surrounding that might affect the installation and functionality of the stairs such as doors, windows or hallways.

Curved Timber Staircase

They are an excellent space-savers and they are available in either an ‘L’ or a ‘U’ shape. If you are unsure whether this is a good style for your application we recommend visiting our Bundaberg showroom and speaking with one of our team members – they will be able to advise you of the best style to suit your needs.

Our curved staircases are built to comply with Australian safety and design standards, and they are completely customizable, from the timber selection to the style of balustrading that you select. We offer a wide range of Australian timbers to select from and we are open to sourcing specific timbers to match the rest of your house as long as they are suitable for use in staircases. If you are planning on carpeting or covering your timber staircase then we recommend using Knotty Pine as it is sturdy and affordable.

Placing Your Curved Timber Staircase Order:

All of our timber staircases are made to order and can be freighted anywhere within Australia. We flat-pack them to reduce shipping costs and we include detailed instructions for reassembly. Assembling and installing your new staircase is easy and anyone with some DIY experience will be able to do it, however we can also put you in touch with a professional builder or handyman if you’d prefer.

To place your order, you will need to provide us with detailed house plans or the following measurements:

• Height difference between the two floors
• Ceiling height
• Which way is up
• Any surrounding doors, windows and hallways

To provide a quote we will also need to know what species of timber you’d like to use as well as any additional features you require such as balustrading, slats or knobs.

Once you approve the quote we’ll get started on the build – our turn-around time is usually 2-3 weeks however any additional customization or the use of exotic timbers may extend this timeframe slightly.

Custom-Made Timber Mono-Stringer Staircases

The Mono-Stringer staircase is a bold design that features one single diagonal string in the middle that supports the stairs. It is often used in architecturally designed houses and office buildings as it has a minimalist yet industrial aesthetic. This style of staircase is one of our more premium products and is made-to-order using only the highest quality materials and craftsmanship.

As with all our products, the mon-stringer staircase are available in a variety of different local and imported timber species. They are all designed and built to Australian safety standards and we ship them flat-packed Australia-wide. Ordering a Mono-Stringer Timber Staircase:

All our mono-stringer timber staircases are made to order and take approximately 2-3 weeks to build. Using an exotic timber or more customised design elements may extend this turn-around time however you will be informed of this prior to placing your order.

To place your order or request a quote, we will require either your house plans or a set of measurements which includes the height of your ceiling, the height difference between the two levels and any environmental elements such as windows, doors or hallways which may affect the staircase. We’ll also need to know your timber selection and whether you require any additional features such as balustrading.

Once you have placed your order and your new mono-stringer staircase has been built, we will freight it to you anywhere in Australia. It will arrive flat-packed with instructions on how to reassemble – we generally find that anyone with some DIY experience can assemble and install the stairs themselves however if you would prefer that a professional take care of the installation then we can put you in touch with a local builder or handyman.

Made-to-Order Canter-Levered Staircases

Canter-levered staircases have become very popular in recent years, especially in architecturally designed homes. They offer a clean and minimalist staircase option that takes up minimal space while creating an impact on the overall aesthetic of your home. Generally, because they hang from the wall, canter-levered staircases will require thicker walls and thicker supports towards the end of the stair that is closest to the wall. We have several different timber varieties available to choose from including Australian species such as Spotted Gum, Blackbutt, Iron-bark, Vic Ash and Tasmanian Oak. We can also source additional timbers as requested as long as they are timbers that glue well and don’t dissolve in water. Please note that more exotic species may take longer to source and may extend our usual 2-3 week delivery period.

All of our custom staircases are built to Australian design and safety standards and will last a lifetime or even generations if installed and maintained properly. All of our existing staircase styles can be customised in regards to the timber, balustrade, handrail and knob selections. We can also re-create an existing design that you’ve seen online or from a photo. Custom Staircase Options:

We have a huge range of design options available for you to customise your timber staircase – start by selecting the style of staircase that you want and then select the variety of timber that you would like the staircase to be made from. We can use any species of timber as long as it glues well however some of the more popular species include American Oak, Knotty Pine (our preferred option for carpeted applications), Philippine Mahogany, Spotted Gum, Black-butt, Iron-Bark, Tasmanian Oak, Queensland Maple, Vic Ash and Durian. Please note that some more exotic species may take longer to source.

Once you have selected the style and the timber for your new custom timber staircase, you will then have a huge range of different balustrades, slats, handrails and knobs to choose from to further customise your design.

Replicate an Existing Design:

Our team are more than happy to replicate an existing staircase design or style that you have seen somewhere else – just bring us in some images and we’ll manufacture the same staircase for your own home.

We’ll also need to know what species of timber you’d like to use and whether you’ll require any additional features such as balustrading or knobs.

If you approve the quote then we’ll start building your staircase. Typical turnaround time is 2-3 weeks. We then freight your new staircase to you anywhere in Australia where it will arrive flat-packed and ready to assemble for you or your builder.
